Fergie Jenkins Bursary

The Fergie Jenkins Bursary was established in 1992 in part by the Kinsmen Club of Chatham, Chatham Minor Baseball Association, The City of Chatham and the former County of Kent in recognition of Fergie Jenkins being voted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame.

The bursary is set up to promote, encourage and sponsor educational programs and activities, by promoting assistance to applicants in their quest for higher learning at a recognized post-secondary institution.

Preference is weighted towards those applicants who have been a player, umpire or volunteer with CMBA however is not the only criteria required.

Applications are distributed in February each year and are usually due by June of the same year.

The award is presented annually and the winner receives $500 to use towards their university or college education.
