Chatham Sports Hall of Fame Recognizes Chuck Rylett
2025-07-282025 Volunteer Recognition Award
Congratulations to Chuck Rylett !
On Thursday, July 17th, the Chatham Sports Hall of Fame took the opportunity to recognize four very special community volunteers including CMBA’s very own, Chuck Rylett.
Chuck Rylett is exactly the kind of volunteer we had in mind in deciding to recognize impactful volunteers. A volunteer with the Chatham Minor Baseball Association for over 20 years, Chuck has served as Head Coach, Assistant Coach, House League Convenor, Facilities Coordinator and Vice-President. Most recently he has volunteered to welcome the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers IBL team in 2024. He has been the primary caretaker for Fergie Jenkins Field and other amenities on the grounds of Rotary Park, including municipal and minor baseball assets.
While also working full-time, and regardless of the weather, Chuck volunteers his evenings and weekends, cutting grass, dragging and lining the diamond, cleaning the grandstand and repairing equipment to ensure a safe, clean facility so that players of all ages can experience the full “Fergie Jenkins Field” treatment.
His reputation for being a hardworking, dedicated volunteer is well known as teams across the Province know Chuck by name and they travel great distances for the opportunity to play at this top notch facility and have their photo taken at our diamond here in Chatham.
Nominator, Jason Chickowski of the Chatham Minor Baseball Association says, “Fergie Jenkins Field at Rotary Park is the crown jewel of all sports facilities in Chatham-Kent and Chuck’s continued dedication to the association and the sports field as a whole is an example of how volunteering in our community can truly make a difference. CMBA and our Community have been blessed to have Chuck Rylett living, work and giving his time to our community.”
On behalf of the Chatham Sports Hall of Fame and the Chatham Minor Baseball Association, please join me in thanking Chuck Rylett.
Thank you, Chuck, for all you do!!!
