History of The Fergie Jenkins Bursary
The Fergie Jenkins Bursary was established in 1992 in part by the Kinsmen Club of Chatham, Chatham Minor Baseball Association, The City of Chatham and the former County of Kent in recognition of Fergie Jenkins being voted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame.
The bursary is set up to promote, encourage and sponsor educational programs and activities, by promoting assistance to applicants in their quest for higher learning at a recognized post-secondary institution.
Applications are distributed in February each year and are usually due by June of the same year.
Eligibility
To be eligible you must:
1. Be a citizen of the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.
2. Plan to register as a full-time student, in September of the upcoming year, at a recognized University, Community College, Technical Institute or other post-secondary institution for advanced learning.
3. Demonstrate high ideals and qualities of citizenship, athleticism and academics, and must not have received funds from the Fergie Jenkins Bursary in the past.
4. Mail or drop off this application to the address provided at the bottom of the application before the deadline.
Application Procedure
1. The application form must be completed; legibly in BLACK ink within the space provided and must be sent directly to the address listed on the application form by the deadline listed.
2. You must attach a copy of your most recent full year school authorized transcript.
3. You must attach a photocopy of proof of citizenship. Acceptable proof is a Canadian Birth Certificate, a certificate of Canadian citizenship or a Canadian Immigration Record.
Special Notes
1. The responsibility for the completed application rests with the applicant.
2. Please complete the application as requested.
3. Do not submit attachments (other than transcripts and proof of citizenship) such as resumes, newspaper clippings etc...)
